01/10/05 - Buy It! - Mix Review

There is no escaping the fact that there is a colossal trance scene in the South West.

But with more and more DJs competing for sets at venues in the area with their mix CDs, it really takes an exceptional demo to shine through.

This is exactly what local wonder Guy Alexander has delivered on Emotional Response.

With his frequent sets at Nemesis (upstairs in Plymouth's Jesters nightclub) as well as appearances at the Candy Store and at the Dance Academy, Guy has been ripping up many dance floors in his developing DJ career.

Guy, 21, from Mutley, has been DJing since 2001. He is finally seeing the results of his hard work paying off, with an ever-increasing amount of DJ sets and a growing following of clubbers around the South West.

Clocking in at just over an hour, Emotional Response starts with some serious percussion-laden trance before launching into the remix of Ferry Corsten's exceptional Sweet Sorrow release.

From there the CD continues into more uplifting trance, similar to that you would find at the likes of Godskitchen or Gatecrasher, and ends on Ferry Corsten's classic remix of William Orbit's Barber's Adagio for Strings.

This CD is a perfect representation of Guy's set and with a high quality track selection and impressive mixing; Guy could rival some of the bigger names in the trance community with great ease.

Without a doubt it is one of the better CDs I have heard this year. For a copy of the CD, or for bookings, contact Guy on 07830 195660.
